Why a Specification Sheet Is Necessary
A physical sample is important, but it cannot communicate every requirement. Measurements, shade codes, materials, tolerances and packaging instructions should be written down so that production, QC and the buyer are working from the same version.
A clear specification sheet also reduces disputes caused by vague instructions such as “more natural”, “slightly fuller” or “same as last time”.
Core Product Information
- Product name and internal SKU.
- Wig construction type.
- Hair quality tier.
- Texture.
- Color / shade code.
- Length and measuring method.
- Density or target finished weight.
- Lace type and color.
- Lace size.
- Cap construction and cap size.
Hairline and Parting Requirements
Record whether the wig requires pre-plucking, specific density transition, baby-hair direction, middle or side parting, free parting or another parting structure.
Where subjective appearance matters, attach reference photos and keep an approved physical sample.
Measurements and Tolerances
Use the lace size measurement standard, hairline and parting construction guide and hair weight and density tolerance guide to define the measurement method and approval reference.
Do not record only target numbers. The specification should also define the acceptable tolerance where relevant. Natural human hair and handmade wig construction can have variation, so the commercial standard should be realistic and measurable.
Packaging and Label Information
- Retail box or bulk packaging type.
- SKU / shade / length label.
- Barcode or customer code where applicable.
- Accessories included.
- Insert cards or care instructions.
- Outer carton requirements.
Version Control
For repeat orders, use the current specification together with the approved sample and packaging version. The Repeat Order & Specification Control Hub connects these references to change approval, inspection and the next order.
Keep the signed specification alongside the procurement document checklist. Review the multi-style project brief for an example of recorded SKU and quantity allocation; it does not establish shipment or inspection results.
Every approved change should create a new version. The production team should be able to identify which specification is current, what changed and which sample it matches.
Discuss Your Sourcing Project
Send Vayora your product brief, target specification, reference samples and packaging requirements. We can review the project and prepare the next sampling or quotation step.
Request a QuoteFrequently Asked Questions
Is a wig specification sheet the same as a tech pack?
They serve a similar purpose. The exact format can vary, but the goal is to document all production-relevant requirements.
Do I still need a sample if the specification is detailed?
Yes. Visual and tactile features are difficult to define completely in writing.
Should tolerances be included?
Yes where practical. They help convert subjective expectations into measurable acceptance criteria.
Who should approve specification changes?
The buyer and supplier should confirm changes before they are released to production.
